/photos/images/Egyptian Museum.jpg Prince Rahotep and His Wife Nofret
In ancient Egypt, many sculptures were placed in tombs, where they represented the deceased and received offerings from the living. The limestone statue here, Prince Rahotep and His Wife Nofret, dates from the 4th Dynasty (2575-2467 bc) and was found in Rahotep’s tomb in Maydüm. It now resides in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
